Gladestone Hotel Toronto

Sun Sep 17, 2006, 7:49 PM
I was in a show at the Gladestone this weekend. It was supposed to be a weekend community art event. BUT someone double booked the ART BAR and a wedding party took over the scene on Saturday. I showed up expecting to greet people who were showing up to see the art - imagine my suprise when I couldn't even get in. PISSED OFF? oh ya. I took my stuff out later when the room was abandoned and left unlocked, I was worried it might walk out on its own (its happened before). By the way NOT ONE PERSON asked me where I was going with all that artwork.
It was a good show if you were in the wedding party.
The artists that started the Art Bar back in 1988 have kept it alive for all these years. We were kicked out when rennovations turned into a "Jazz Bar". It failed dismally. We came back and fill the bar with artists one night a week. It is pretty cool now that they rennovated -not so grungy at least. But now we get kicked out whenever someone books the room for whatever reason (usually $$$$). The art group doesn't pay for its event so we get bumped easiliy.Thats a part of the untold story of the current "hot spot" The Gladestone Hotel in Toronto.

I just found out one of my paintings was taken off the site.
Someone put it in the pornographic category. What nerve.
How ridiculous. CENSORED!!!???? This is really ridiculous especially considering the image taken off. Where are you people from? The 1950s?????! Get a Life. Look around you. Advertising is more pornographic than my "invitation" image.

Imagination is more important than knowledge, for while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create.
